Our Executives
Who are the executives?
EIA consultants are seasoned leaders from the business sector who are offering their professional talents to the nonprofit sector. EIA works with top-notch executives across many industries, with a focus on business leaders who have:
- Occupied a VP/C-Level position or equivalent
- Upheld 15+ years management experience
- Most recent salary over $100K/year
However, the best way to describe an EIA member is a "servant leader."
Currently, the organization is focused on partnering with executives who are in transition and who seek full-time positions in the business sector. However, the organization fully expects to pursue retired and actively working executives in the future.
What is the EIA Experience?
Executives are matched with a nonprofit that meets their passions, and deployed on a project within that organization that capitalizes on their core competencies. Whereas most volunteer programs are focused on basic skills, EIA's model allows a highly skilled executive to make meaningful contributions to the community using their highest and best professional talents.
Executives are provided with a unique opportunity to take a deep dive into a nonprofit while having the comfort of a clear exit strategy -- most projects are designed to last no more than 90 days while requiring only 1-2 days of work per week. However, many executives have chosen to continue volunteering with their nonprofit once they found a job. Several have even accepted board seats or full-time positions at the organizations where they were placed!
Throughout their projects, the Executives participate in EIA-sponsored events, networking sessions and training opportunities. They have the chance the become fully immersed in the EIA community of servant leaders: for many, this is one of the most valuable aspects of their membership in the organizaton.
How does this experience impact the executives?
The proof is in the numbers:
- Although they are offered a financial honorarium in recognition of their valuable work, over 40% of these executives are donating these funds back to Executives in Action.
- Over half of the executives who worked on an EIA project during their time of unemployment are now actively working;
- The majority of those who received jobs reported that their participation in EIA was one of the most significant factors in why they were hired by their next employer
Additional exit surveys indicate that, compared to the time before they entered the EIA program, EIA alumni are:
- more likely to continue volunteering,
- more interested in serving on nonprofit boards,
- more likely to donate to other nonprofits.
EIA members have also reported a variety of personal benefits, from gaining new professional contacts to learning new skills to feeling significantly better about themselves as a direct result of their work in the EIA program.
